Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant(SPEAR Logistics and Liaison Coordinator).

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No

Duties

This position provides daily operational oversight, and administrative, logistics, and training support to the Mission Ethiopia Special Program for Embassy Augmentation and Response (SPEAR) Unit comprised of 48 Ethiopian Federal police officers. This position assists with SPEAR Unit command and control during training evolutions and routine daily quick response force support to Mission operations, and during emergency counterterrorism operations in response to critical incidents inside Ethiopia. This position reports to the ARSO responsible for SPEAR operations and is managed by the DRSO.  

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of experience in administration, logistics, personnel management, and project implementation and/or coordination with law enforcement, military, judicial or international organizations is required.

EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in management, logistics management, business administration, public administration or emergency management is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English; Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing Amharic required. (This may be tested)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact well with persons at all levels of government and the private sector. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects at the same time. Familiarity with computers including a working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must have a valid, current 2nd level drivers license. Must have had a drivers license for a minimum of five (5) years (This may be tested). Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds without mechanical aids.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
