ASDEPO is a local Civil Society Organization that has been working in all Regions of Ethiopia towards ensuring the poorest and most vulnerable and those affected by humanitarian crises have access to the fundamental rights of life, including but not limited to adequate shelter, food and livelihoods, water and sanitation, nutrition, healthcare and education. ASDEPO implements a range of multi-sectorial development, resilience, recovery and humanitarian responses Programmes by being sensitive to cross-cutting issues.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The GBV Coordinator for Metekel zone will support the ASDEPOs GBV intervention in Debate and Bulen woredas. He/she will provide technical oversight to officers GBV activities across relevant project locations, ensuring the improvement and application of harmonized quality standards and supporting a consistent integration of protection principles into all ASDEPO program activities across the region. He/ She will technically supervise GBV officers, MPSS officers and provide any needed support to protection assistants and community workers. He/ She will additionally work closely with the GBV Response coordinator in Addis to ensure quality implementation of activities across the region.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree/MA in social sciences, law, social work, Public health, Reproductive health, international development, or another relevant field from a recognized institution
Minimum 5 years’ work experience for BA and 3 year for MA within the field of GBV and protection, particularly experience in Humanitarian settings, working on gender-based violence, as GBV sub-sector/cluster coordinator
  Experience on GBV mainstreaming with other sectors and   working with international NGO’s, UN agencies, local authorities in IDP/migrants/refugee settings in complex emergencies;
 Experience in developing and delivering high-quality trainings on GBV core principles, Case Management and other protection concepts;
 Be able to quickly understand and adapt to context and factors that might enable positive collaboration and coordination and be willing to seek regular guidance from head office leadership on these matters.
 Strong understanding of ethical issues with regards to collecting GBV data and design of safe GBV assessments.
 Experience of using GBVIMS would be an asset
