Job Description

KAKI PLC is an official dealer and assembler of ISUZU in Ethiopia. It is also engaged in different business lines including import, export, metal fabrication, after sales services, and cargo freight transport operations. The company wishes to employ a qualified professional for the Senior Import Officer position:

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and organize database for current and prospective suppliers, participate in analyzing offers and ensure that foreign procurement is carried out in a planned and orderly manner, and collect data for analyzing domestic and international market conditions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in ensuring that purchases are made in the best interests of the company.
Submit proforma invoices (s) to bank(s) and follow up foreign currency approval and utilization.
Prepare bank documents for L/C, CAD, TT opening application.
Ensure the availability of fund in the Bank(s) based on financial requirement for foreign purchase opening and settlement.
Organize and compile approved purchase order, banking telegraphic transfer (TT) swift and L/C opening beneficiary copy to be forwarded to the supplier(s).
Check accuracy of shipping documents, keep records and documents such as L/C, CAD, TT and other related activities on computer and on paper.
Collect bank advice for submission to the finance department.
Organize shipping documents and freight settlement invoices for submission to the transit and forwarding section.
Make required follow up for ensuring that payment is made to the supplier on time.
Ensure that Djibouti transit payments are made properly, and necessary documents are kept appropriately.
Maintain accurate cost records associated with the import operations of the department.
Make necessary follow-up to ensure that shipping documents are accurate.
Prepare draft fax messages/email pertaining to offer requests, order placement and other messages to suppliers for approval by the appropriate authority.
Participate in training programs to increase job related knowledge and skills.
Prepare periodical reports for submission to the Import Division Head.

Job Requirements

Required Number           :  1(One)

Qualification                    :  BA Degree in Marketing, Procurement & Supply Management or related field

Work Experience            :  6 years in relevant role

 Skills and Abilities:

Computer skill, excellent written and oral communication skills, English language proficiency
Understanding of accounting or finance
Strong business sense and industry expertise
Understanding of international trading and banking procedures
Understanding of Custom Procedures
