Job Description
Main Purpose of Job:
The position holder is responsible for the production of radio programs and spots as well as the overall management of the studio. He/she will lead the production of fiction and non-fiction components of the media programs, the recruitment of actors and storytellers, and the proper directing of productions.
Specific Responsibilities:
Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee the production of weekly radio programs and radio spots based on content provided by the Content Development Coordinator or other relevant project teams
Ensure quality and timely production of ongoing media programs as well as other mass media outputs
Travel to different cities and rural areas across Ethiopia to collect stories for weekly radio programs as agreed with the supervisor
Edit radio programs, incorporate comments from team members and supervisor, and have productions ready for broadcast on time
Ensure the placement and dissemination of radio programs and spots as per media plans
Monitor media to make sure that programs are on air according to the assigned date and time
Supervise and train actors, storytellers and other stakeholders in the production process to make sure they stay true to scripts, creative briefs and other guidance
Maintain clear, regular and open communication with the supervisor and other relevant project teams
Ensure that studio equipment is well-kept and functional and that the production team has functioning equipment for field recordings in consultation with the supervisor
Work with the supervisor in the selection of creative consultants and agencies as needed
Assist in the design and execution of capacity building for different stakeholders under the direction of the Senior SBC Media Advisor and the Director of SBC Design and Innovations
Write and compile progress reports regularly as requested by the supervisor
Undertake other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor
Location of position: Addis Ababa with frequent field travels to regions sites
Required no: 1 (one)
Duration of Employment: 1 year with possible extension
Job Requirements
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree in production/film making/theatrical arts and 5+ years relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working knowledge of multiple and multi-channel approaches to social and behavioral communication
Proficiency in English and Amharic, knowledge of other Ethiopian languages is a plus
Creative and strong written and oral communication
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
1st degree or equivalent diploma in literature, journalism media or related
Proven experience as a Media Assistant or other administrative role
Experience in digital communication
Familiarity with media planning
Proficient in MS Office; experience with media software
Good research skills in media
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
